Left-Green MP WIns Speech Award

Leftist-Green Party MP Steingrímur J. Sigfússon was awarded the Junion Chamber International (JCI) award for speech and presentation in parliament. Ögmundur Jónasson - also a Leftist-Green MP - came in second, and Social Democratic chairman Ingibjörg Sólrún Gísladóttir took third, while Liberal Party MPs Magnús Þór Hafsteinsson and Sigurjón Þórðarson took fourth and fifth respectively.

This marks the third time that JCI has given awards to speakers in parliament. Although the top seats all belong to members of the opposition, JCI judges said it was a close call between them and members of the coalition government.
