The eruption in the Holuhraun lava field in Iceland has no impact on air traffic from Keflavik airport, at least at this stage. No flights have been cancelled or modified according to Guðjón Arngrímsson, information representative at Icelandair.
"We are monitoring the situation closely. At this stage the eruption will not affect any flights, but possibly there will be some minor changes."
The aviation colour-code is RED, signaling that eruption is imminent with significant emission of volcanic ash into the atmosphere likely or eruption is underway or suspected with significant emission of volcanic ash into the atmosphere.
At the early stages it was believed that the fissure was about 100-300 meters long. Now it looks like it's around one kilometer long. The eruption seems to be decreasing.
