In Memory of Jón Páll

The competition, The Strongest Man in the world began in Reykjavík yesterday. Twenty-four men compete, three Icelanders among them; Benedikt Magnússon, Georg Ögmundsson and Stefán Sölvi Pétursson. This year‘s competition honors the memory of Icelander Jón Páll Sigmarsson who won the title Strongest Man in the World three times. The last competition took place in Canada and Zydrunas Savickas from Lithuania won. Television series on the competition is being made and will be broadcast in 219 countries. The finals take place on Friday and Saturday at the horse track in Víðidalur.
